an ongoing story

while walking the dog down a wooded path, she came across a bone and lay down to chew on it. I walked slightly up the path and sat under a tree to wait. as I sat, the wind blew, and leaves fell all around me. I felt an occassional drop of rain on my face. after a time, the dog finished chewing & ran toward me. we continued down the path where we saw new deer tracks in the ground.

another thing..

as I stood on a cold night, gazing up at the stars in the midnight sky, I could think only of one thing.

a brief narrative

I lay on my left side staring into nothing; slowly breathing in and out. A bird sang persistently outside my open window. Suddenly the singing stopped. As traffic noises arose and dissolved, I listened to the silence between the sounds.

I stared at my watch as nothing continued to happen.

I watched two butterflies alight on the same leaf. After a short time one flew away. The other remained on the leaf.

While recalling a humorous moment, I chuckled slightly to myself. Eventually my thoughts turned to something else.
